Color of the Year
January 7, 2011 § 1 Comment
A couple of weeks ago, Pantone released their Color of the Year for 2011– Honeysuckle.
I’m still trying to decide how I feel about this choice. I’ve never been a huge fan of hot pink- even in my younger, princessy, little girl days- it just always seemed a little- PINK. Pantone says, Honeysuckle emboldens us to face everyday troubles with verve and vigor. A dynamic reddish pink, Honeysuckle is encouraging and uplifting. It elevates our psyche beyond escape, instilling the confidence, courage and spirit to meet the exhaustive challenges that have become part of everyday life.
I think in small doses, as more of an accent than a centerpiece, it can work well. I like it’s use in the following pieces:
Ikat Pillows by Etsy seller ginette1223
Petite Seashell Wire-wrapped Ring by Etsy seller Sunsparklz
Vivid Fuchsia Dahlia Dangles by Etsy seller BijouxbyAllison
Joy in Midair Earrings, by Etsy seller Epho
Gold and Pink Mix Wire Wrap bracelet by Etsy seller kschaffter
Hue and Me Dress, Modcloth
I’ll admit, out of curiosity, I bought a skein of linen yarn in this color of the weekend- it will be interesting to see what it becomes…
